Elders and cultural dancers from Akata Area in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State on Thursday paid a Sallah homage to prominent politician and philanthropist, where they reaffirmed their support and appreciation for his contributions to the community.
Speaking during the visit, the Spokesman of Akata elders, Alhaji Yahuza Agyo described Chief Kente as a renowned philanthropist whose developmental footprint is visible across Wukari and beyond.
According to them, nearly every part of Wukari has benefited from one form of intervention or another linked to Kente’s philanthropic activities.
The elders also commended him for supporting the emergence of Senator David Jimkuta, whom they described as following Kente’s footsteps of humanitarian services and people-oriented leadership.
They further reiterated their political loyalty and continued support for Chief Kente, praising his commitment to the growth and unity of Wukari.
Responding, Chief Kente expressed appreciation for the visit and called on the people of Wukari to remain united irrespective of religious, political or ethnic differences.
Speaking on his political journey, Kente explained that his decision to join the governorship race was not to compete with the incumbent governor, but to spur the government into action and ensure greater commitment to governance.
“I did not come out to fight the governor, but to put pressure on the government to work harder for the people. At a point, the government was not serious, so I purchased the forms to make them become more serious and responsive,” he stated.
Chief Kente further assured the delegation that residents of Wukari would begin to witness unprecedented development projects before the end of the year, promising that tangible improvements would soon be visible across the area.
