The Taraba State Acting Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP ) Mr Bitrus Obidah has disclosed that, despite mass defection of members of the party to the All Progressives Congress APC, the party in Taraba State remains united and stronger
Hon. Obidah who disclosed this while interacting with Journalists in Jalingo on Monday said though the party was facing leadership crisis at the national level but the party remains united in the state.

He said that the party in the State has no factions and is building on the over Two decades reign it has enjoyed in the State to ensure that it continues to rule the State as the people are, by all indications, more comfortable with PDP than any other political party.
“Gentlemen, let me first of all assure you that the PDP remains intact in Taraba and, as it stands, it is the party to beat in the next election. You may hear of factions here and there but these are mere detractors and attention seekers. We have legally elected officials of the party in the State whose tenure has not elapsed so how can you come up with a care taker committee that the national body is also not aware of? It is just ridiculous.
“What I can tell you for free is that, the PDP has been the ruling party in the State since 1999 and that status has not changed, not even with the defection of the State governor and some other key officials to the APC.
“As we speak, most of the people who decamped to the APC are coming back and we are welcoming them all. Our doors are always widely open for them to return. We have very strong structures across the 16 Local Government Areas that are indestructible. This is coming from several years of deliberate and purposeful cultivation. And so you don’t think any other political party can just wake up one day and push us over. That is not going to happen.
“We are working hard to provide a level playing field for everyone who is interested in contesting for any positions in the forthcoming general elections. We would field credible candidates for all the elective positions. I have made it very clear to everyone that they need to go back to the grassroots and do their job. They need to win the people at that level. The era of manipulation and imposition is over.
“As we speak, efforts are underway at the national level to reconcile all the aggrieved parties. By the grace of God, we would get good news at the end of the day and that will also put to rest the wranglings within the party. The PDP is reorganising and I can tell you for free that despite the seeming insurmountable challenges, we would emerge greater, stronger and wiser, haven learnt our lessons” he said.
