Group Urges Kefas to Sack Finance Commissioner over Alleged Examination Malpractice

Moses Kinkan Jalingo

Concerned Youths for Good Governance, operating under the umbrella of the Governor Kefas Movement for Development, has called on the Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, to relieve the Commissioner for Finance and Economic Planning, Mrs. Sarah Enoch Adi of her position over alleged involvement in an examination malpractices

The group made the call in a statement issued to Journalists on Thursday in Jalingo, describing the alleged act as unfortunate, unethical, and unbecoming of a public official serving in a government anchored on integrity and accountability.

The statement added that any responsible government would not associate herself with an alleged examination fraud, and therefore urged governor Kefas to immediately suspend  the commissioner and set an independent Investigation committee to ascertain the veracity of the offence.

According to the statement, the allegation of examermination scam which the video has gone viral and has attracted widespread concern among residents of the state, many of whom are demanding that the government take swift action to safeguard the moral image of the administration.

The group alleged that the commissioner’s reported involvement in the malpractice had already reduced public confidence in her office, dented the image of the administration and called for an impartial investigation to determine the veracity of the claims.

“The allegations against the Commissioner for Finance and Economic Planning are serious and damaging. If found to be true, they would amount to a betrayal of public trust and a violation of the ethical standards expected of leaders,” the group stated.

It noted that Governor Kefas’s administration has, since inception, emphasized integrity, discipline, and merit as guiding principles, adding that allowing such allegations to go unchecked would undermine those values.

The youth body argued that the Kefas-led government must set a strong example by ensuring that any appointee found guilty of misconduct, regardless of status, faces the full weight of the law.

“We believe that no one is above the law. The credibility of this administration lies in its ability to act decisively against wrongdoing, irrespective of who is involved,” the group said.

They further urged Governor Kefas to sustain his reform agenda by cleansing the system of elements whose actions could derail the progress already made in various sectors, especially education and public service management.

The group also commended the governor for his bold steps in promoting good governance and transparency, particularly through policies that have enhanced accountability in revenue generation and expenditure.

In their view, protecting the integrity of the state government should remain a top priority, as it will strengthen public confidence and attract greater support for the administration’s development programmes.

Efforts to reach Mrs. Enoch for comments on the allegations were unsuccessful, as calls and messages to her mobile lines were not responded to as of the time of filing this report.
