Governor, Agbu Kefas of TarabaState, on Tuesday, flagged off major road and bridge projects valued at over N134bn in the southern zone of the state.
The Governor described the road intervention as a deliberate step towards improving security and economic growth in the Southern Taraba.
The projects include the N11.7bn, 12-kilometre Takum–Lissam Road; the N37bn Wukari–Chinkai Road; N85.9bn Takum Junction flyover bridge in Wukari, as well as internal roads in Wukari town, which are expected to significantly transform transportation and commerce in the zone.
In his address, Governor Kefas appreciated the people of Wukari for their overwhelming support and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering people-oriented projects, aimed at improving the quality of life of residents.
He assured the people of the area that his government would continue to initiate and execute developmental projects with direct impact on the lives of the people.
Als speaking at the flag-off, the Commissioner for Works, Moseh Luka, said the projects were clear evidence that the Kefas-led administration was delivering the dividends of democracy through massive infrastructural development across the state.
The state Managing Director of Kanubeen Construction Nigeria Limited, the contractor handling the road projects in Wukari, Mitchell Nehme, assured residents that the projects would be executed strictly in line with approved specifications and completed within the agreed timelines.
Nehme appealed to host communities for cooperation and support to ensure smooth project execution.
The Wukari Township Road Network and the Takum Junction Flyover Bridge are strategic projects designed to decongest traffic, reduce road accidents, and provide lasting solutions to persistent traffic bottlenecks at one of the busiest intersections in Southern Taraba.
Our correspondent reports that prominent Tarabans at the flag-off of the road projects commended Governor Kefas for the initiative, most especially, the Wukari – Chinkai Road which they said is the only shortest route linking Taraba with Nasarawa and the federal capital territory.
