The Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas has approved the creation and redesignation of key ministries as part of efforts to strengthen governance and improve service delivery in the state.
The approval was granted by Governor Agbu Kefas and communicated in a press statement issued on Thursday by the Secretary to the Government of the State, Chief, Barrister Gebon Timothy Kataps.
According to the statement, the restructuring and creation involves the creation of two new ministries and redesignation of two existing ones.
Under the new arrangement, the Ministry of Social Development and Human Services has been created to replace the former Ministry of Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation. Also created is the Ministry of Social Justice, which replaces the Ministry of Social Justice and Re-Integration.
In addition, the governor approved the establishment of two new education-focused ministries—the Ministry of Nursery and Basic Education and the Ministry of Secondary, Vocational and Skill Education—aimed at strengthening foundational learning and skills acquisition in the state.
The government noted that details of the core mandates and operational frameworks of the newly created and redesigned ministries will be released by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the State in due course.
The restructuring is expected to enhance policy focus, improve institutional efficiency, and align governance structures with the developmental priorities of the Taraba State Government.
