The Warwar Ward of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sardauna Local Government Area has announced the suspension of Hon. Abel Peter Diah, a member of the Taraba State House of Assembly representing Mbamnga Constituency, over alleged insubordination and misconduct.
In a letter dated November 21, 2025, the ward leadership said the suspension followed “several verified reports and complaints” accusing the lawmaker of conduct contrary to party values, discipline, and established organisational structure. The suspension, the ward said, is pending further investigation and directives from higher party organs.
Among the allegations is that Hon. Diah repeatedly claimed to be the APC leader in Sardauna LGA during a recent visit—an assertion the ward executives said contradicts the party’s recognised leadership structure. The lawmaker was asked to, within seven days, cite the specific provision of the APC constitution that confers such authority on him.
In documents circulated among party stakeholders, the APC also accused the lawmaker of usurping party powers, compiling unauthorised executive lists, and circulating allegations against party leaders and the state government. He was further alleged to have threatened to dissolve existing APC structures in Sardauna LGA should Governor Agbu Kefas defect to the party—claims the ward described as attempts to destabilise constitutionally recognised executives.
The ward alleged that Hon. Diah violated provisions of the APC Constitution (as amended, 2022) by compiling an executive list for Warwar Ward without consultation or approval. It also accused one of his media aides of spreading unverified claims capable of deepening internal rifts within the party.
Citing Article 17 of the APC constitution, the Warwar Ward executive committee announced the suspension with immediate effect and directed the lawmaker to refrain from participating in all party meetings and activities within Sardauna LGA pending the outcome of a full investigation.
As of press time, Hon. Abel Peter Diah had not publicly reacted to the allegations.
However, the APC Taraba State Working Committee has dismissed the reported suspension, describing it as unconstitutional and of no effect.
Speaking to journalists, the APC Publicity Secretary, Aaron Artemas, said the state leadership was not aware of any disciplinary action against the Mbamnga lawmaker and had not received any petition or complaint from the ward involved.
Artemas stressed that the APC constitution clearly outlines due process for disciplining members, noting that ward-level officials lack the authority to suspend an elected office holder. He explained that allegations must first be formally communicated to the affected member, whose response would then be considered by the State Working Committee, with the National Working Committee duly notified in cases involving elected officials.
“As far as the Taraba State Working Committee is concerned, no such suspension exists. No letter has reached us, and the alleged action is null and void,” he said.
He urged party members to avoid actions that could destabilise the APC, particularly amid ongoing political realignments in the state, and warned against internal disputes derailing efforts to strengthen the party. The state leadership, he added, will await clear directives from the National Working Committee on the matter.
